Last week Facebook removed the Suggest To Friends option on all of the fan pages saying there was a bug in the load of the feature and they were trying to fix it. Well the help center has confirmed it is now no longer an option for fans of a page.
Seems like the only option Fan pages have now for their members help friends get to the page is the Share Page option. This will surely hinder Fan Pages from growing so big and getting new members unless the pages buy ad space on Facebook.
Admins will have the option to suggest to friends but right now that feature doesn't work. The share feature is the only option right now and that will post to the members profile for friends to see and click if the want. Unfortunately this is located in a spot most people dont go to or can see at first glance. It is on the left hand side of page down under all the boxes by the unlike page feature not very prominent for fans to see unless they know to look for it.
I bet you we will see the workaround of pages adding tons of admins when the Suggest To Friends option is fixed. This way they can all suggest the page to their large friend list to help get the page members as they are not limited on how many they can invite. So if they have 4000 friends they can send out 4000 invites but only when they fix the feature.
How do you feel about this let us and the world know by commenting below.
Here is the message in the help center below or see for yourself by clicking here.
All Page admins have the option to suggest their Page to friends by selecting the "Suggest to Friends" link in the upper left side of the Page. Non-admins do not have this option, and are not able to view this link. However, they can share a Page with friends by selecting the "Share" link in the bottom left side of the Page. They can then choose to share it via a post on their profile, which may appear in their friends' News Feeds, or with specific friends via a message.
So between FB lying to us, can we add Zynga to the list? Not sure how long the outage lasted with the spinning wheel of bullets, got frustrated and logged out before it was fixed. Their claims of the servers being over taxed due to people running scripts seems to be yet another lie.
ReplyDeleteface book use to be fun and easy to understand a year ago .since then they have ruined there site and profile pages and options .this new face book sucks .stop screwing it up and put it back to the old profile and bring back what we liked
ReplyDeleteChange happens everywhere. People have to learn to adjust. There is change happening the world over. If companies and people cannot or do not adjust with technology changes they are going to be left in the dust.
ReplyDeleteChange does happen yes sometimes good and some bad. However, when it is not for the greater good but selfish purposes such as greed nobody will win. So if this is Facebooks attempt to make us buy their adds in order to promote our pages, they wont be getting my dollar.
ReplyDeleteFB and Zynga both need to learn - "If it ain't broke, don't fix it!" ... and Zynga particularly needs to learn to "fix what's broke" before adding more bells and whistles.
ReplyDeleteWhy did they down grade in making a group page to chat where the old stile on creating a group off your side bar now the chat window is small enough as is now we have to find other mean to make the lost of downgrade on creating a group not happy
ReplyDeleteWhat about Zynga? How many users have they been ripping off? Someone else asked this question yesterday. People should listen to what that one poster said about Zynga.
ReplyDeleteIf people do not like it here they can leave. If people do not want to pay for advertising that is there problem. Advertising is a legitimate business expense. People are MARKETING and that comes with a cost just like any other business.
ReplyDeleteI thought fan pages were a thing of the past? I know I read somewhere months ago that pages were not being allowed anymore and all these pages were being disbanded. What's up with this? I though Groups were only allowed?
ReplyDeleteThe one thing that FB can get rid of is the tagging. There are many females on FB that are tagging men then somehow those photos get posted to news feeds. These pics are sexually connotative and pornographic. Complaining to FB does no good. Shall we bring the FBI to investigate such happenings??? This might shut FB down. Kids are exposed to such things. As for FB & Zynga's greed for the good old green $$$ I have to agree. There is something wrong with the words "free games". The word 'free' has no meaning anymore anywhere.
ReplyDeleteIt depends on the picture you are talking about. I get tagged all the time and I just have a normal everyday picture. It depends on lots of things when it comes to the tagging and I am not a fan of it but I don't care if I get tagged or not.
ReplyDeleteThe people who need and have and will continue to be investigated is Zynga.
