Facebook's Old Group Owners Revolt Over Messages Not Being Sent To Members

Right now people who use the Old Facebook groups and up in arms about messages not being sent out to their members. This has been going on now for 3 weeks and there has been no help or comments from Facebook on this major issue despite numerous emails and phone calls.

This issue is affecting millions of members and admins of the old groups. Facebook members use the old groups for everything from Mafia Wars Families and other games groups to just regular topic groups.

There have been rumors on the site that the old groups are going to be migrated to the new groups and that Facebook will be starting this on March 24th but these rumors have not been confirmed but they also have not been denied by Facebook who is not commenting on this.

If they are thinking of migrating the old groups into new groups this will be a major headache for the admins and members of them. The new groups have strict limitations on them and dont offer the same features the old groups do.

The new groups are limited to 250 members, do not have a discussion tab ( they use a feature called Docs for this ), you cannot message all members with valuable information related to the group, anyone can be added to a new group without their consent, members of the new groups will automatically receive emails of all posts and comments that are made and these are just a few of the drawbacks.

The old group admins and their members do not want this. They want to be able to communicate and have the ability to control their group.

The Facebook help center is pretty much useless unless you really know how to dig for information. But I have found some for all admins to use to complain to Facebook and try to get action.

This what the help center has on messages not being sent to members.

When sending messages or event invitations to a group, delivery may be delayed. Group members should receive these messages within a few hours. Guests will not display on an event until they have received these invitations. We are continually working to shorten these delays. If it has been more than 24 hours since you first tried sending a message or invitation to your group and members have still not received it, please submit a report here.

I suggest every admin fill this out and flood Facebook with them. And please be as thorough as you can explaining the issue.

I have also found this link too http://www.facebook.com/help/contact.php?show_form=groups_bug Please fill this out completely as well.

There is also a cause that you can join to try and get your voice heard. Here is the link http://apps.facebook.com/causes/posts/683781

We all need to let them know how we feel and I strongly urge all the old groups admins and members to voice their opinion on this. I also suggest you email them customerservice@fb.com , legal@fb.com

  1. Dear facebook "G8ds" and "Zucker"

Your supposed to make it so its an enjoyable and easy experience not the other way around. 250 people in a group?? you should've done that in the first place... start out low and work up. NOT DOWN. Right now messages in new groups don't go out to 10 people let alone 250. So what ever it is you "think" your doing right... your not. And I've been in the Fortune 100 decision making rooms long enough to able to tell you so without fear. John H. You are making a very unprofitable and sloppy mistake.
